THE STORY
The creation of this calendar begin with a vision: I wanted to create something that looked old masters style paintings but with inclusion of dogs….this led me to hold a “Heritage Style Model Call” at the beginning of this year just to create these images. Little did I know that by the end of that week, I had just enough images for the calendar before we went into full lock-down! Wheew! So most of my 6 week lock-down period was spent editing these images, bringing my vision to life.
I have put my heart and soul into this project: firstly preparing and creating the sets for the pets in the photo sessions – each one needed to be different from the other, but still keeping that similar old style heritage theme. Some pets were very hyper active, some extremely shy, so I only got one or two decent images of them… fortunately these were enough to create a beautiful calendar from.
Just as well I did that model call as the following months meant I had no work due to Covid-19…I was of course affected (still am!). So this project, my dear friends, is not just to help you gain a beautiful tangible product, but it will also help my business to survive in these difficult times.
As a self-confessed perfectionist, every image is meticulously edited and each one of them is an artwork in its own right.
Each one of the 12 images has taken me a considerable amount of time to edit (up to 40 hours each). I wanted these to look just like old masters style paintings… I’ve heard some people describe these as renaissance paintings, well I’m happy with that
A bit about the dogs featured here: some of them, had been badly abused and neglected before they were rescued by their current owners. Each dog has their own story and a happy ending.
